Mendoza, 32, made his debut for Peru in 1999 and still plays for his country. He has seven goals in 44 games. At the club level, Mendoza has played all over the world, including stints in Turkey, Belgium, France and Mexico. He has 116 goals in his 14-year club career.
"We are excited to add a player of Andres's experience and quality," said Crew coach Robert Warzycha. "He is a proven goal scorer who has represented his country at the international level, and we are looking forward to integrating him into our team."
Per club and MLS policy, no further terms of the deal were disclosed. Mendoza will join the team in Washington, D.C. and be available for selection Saturday at D.C. United.
